PERSONAL PROJECTS

This page contains a collection of projects that I have worked on over the last two years. I believe that getting as much practical experience as possible in different design fields is crucial for the start of my design career. Having worked on a diversity of projects has allowed me to develop a structured way of tackling any design problem while applying fundamental principles.

01
Photoshop Edits

Those compositions were created in order to get familiar and comfortable with Adobe Photoshop while learning useful techniques for blending images together and adding highlights. The goal was to take lighting and perspective into consideration in order to achieve the most realistic look and feel.

Method

The most challenging part was finding an appropriate background that matches the perspective of the main photo. The second most important requirement was to have similar lighting in both images which would allow the images to blend together. The last step was to add highlights depending on the light sources of the background.

Book Cover Design

This book cover design was part of an assignment for a design course focused on Adobe Photoshop. The goal of the project was to design a book cover page by choice while taking into consideration fundamental design principles. The approach that I took was to find appropriate images that would fit well together and then decide on a color palette.

Video Infographic

This is a short preview of an animated infographic that was developed during an internship at the NATO Center of Excellence in Sofia. Its purpose is to visualize and summarize a few paragraphs for a diplomacy course. This way, anyone who is taking the course can watch a short introduction video rather than reading big paragraphs of text.

Method

As a person who has not done a similar project, I put effort into figuring out the most essential aspects of a video infographic and choosing an efficient workflow that will result in a seamless video from start to finish, and learn as much as possible for a short time. I decided to begin from scratch every single day for a week. Taking this approach allowed me to improve the quality of the animation as well as reduce the time spent with every new try.

Difficulties

The most challenging part was the time available, as the video was for a course starting in one month's time. I was provided with a document of text and had the complete freedom to rewrite the script and adjust it to the style and needs of the video. Despite my inexperience in such projects and limited time, the infographic video is a preferred method of carrying out courses at the NATO Center of Excellence.
